To make the teaching - learning and evaluation process effective and to improve the active participation of students, various innovative methods adopted by the department are as follows:
Though this is an old method of teaching but for the students of senior college this method seems to be effective along with other teaching methods. While introducing the new lesson of prose, poem while explaining the complex issues and for the active participation of students in the analysis of prose and poetry this method is effective.
To make the teaching and learning process student centric Group Discussion method for teaching is used by this department. To give exposed to every student to express himself/herself and to creat confidence within the students as well as to form the habit of deep learning amongst the students this method is used by the department of Marathi.
To bring variety in teaching the above method is used. In this method the students are given the examples of their familiarity and then they are taken to the unknown concept which they don’t find difficult to understand. Sometime from unknown to known this method is also used particularly for teaching certain rules. It means the rules are explain initially and then examples.
Due to the scientific and Technological development there are various technological methods available for teaching viz. the use of power point presentation, Multimedia, Digital classroom etc. All these devices are available in the college and are regularly used for teaching by the department of Marathi.
After completion of a particular unit or topic, the unit tests were regularly conducted. It helps to evaluate the level of understanding of students regarding that particular topic. The evaluated answer sheets of unit tests were discussed with students in class room. It helps to improve their writing skill also we can find out the slow learners as well as advanced learners.
To improve their stage courage, subject knowledge and language skills the seminars on curricular and co-curricular topics were regularly conducted by the department. The faculty of the department encourages and guides the students to take active participation. An attempt is made to develop the communication skills of the students through this activity.
In order to test and evaluate the subject knowledge and level of understanding of students, the Quiz Competitions were conducted by the department. By dividing the students in groups containing four students in each group the multiple choice questions were asked. The group securing high numbers is felicitated with cash prize and certificates.
