Microbiology is one of optional subject in the under graduation curriculum. Teaching plays a major role in microbiology curriculum. There are various modes of teaching microbiology such as lectures, practical demonstrations, seminars, text book method, project method, student enquiry approach, virtual lectures, group discussions, study tours, problem solving method, case studies etc for effective teaching and learning process.
The teaching and learning process starts from 1st of July of every academic session. As per University academic calendar departmental teacher prepares his academic diary. In this academic diary, plan is also made for evaluation of the students. After completing each unit the notes are dictated in the class and students are asked to prepare the notes and minimum two tests are held in every semester. The examination shall comprise of two theory papers, one in each semester and one practical in each Semester. Each theory paper will be of 3 Hrs. duration and carry 80 marks. The internal assessment will carry 20 marks. The practical examination will be of at least 4 hours duration for B.Sc.F.Y. and B.Sc.S.Y and 5 hours for B.Sc.T.Y. in one day and shall carry 50 marks. The syllabus is prescribed on the basis of six lectures per week and 6 practical periods per batch per week. Each theory paper has been divided into 6 units for all semester. Along with these tests, department fosters and appealed to the students for participation in seminar activity to make the bold on the stage conducted at the end of every semester session. All the students of B.Sc.S.Y & B.Sc.T.Y students deliver their seminar on the topic taught in the class.
The department maintains its mission as to create a centre of academic excellence in the field of education and research in Microbiology. We provide a academic background for an overall development of personality for a successful career in subject by conducting the activity like a quiz competitions and a group discussionheld at the end of every semester session. In this group discussion individual performance is observed and they are evaluated individually. The departmental teachers maintain the file of all these activities undertaken during the academic year and at the end of the session files checked by the principal as well as by the IQAC. Besides these, the semester examination failure students warned and advised to study hard. They are provided study material or notes.
We provide an environment for continuous improvement and right skills oriented towards self development. Department inculcate the attitude have community orientation and civic responsibilities in the student through social activity. Also develop an approach towards the national and global needs as responsible citizen.
