The Departments of English is equipped with modern teaching aids like Computers, OHP, LCD, slide-projectors, charts, models, digital classroom for Web-based teaching and learning. There is a maximum use of all teaching aids for teaching purpose. The academic calendar is prepared by IQAC in compliance with the University Academic Calendar. The Academic Diary is also prepared at the beginning of the session with the complete plan of the yearly teaching and evaluation. The teaching job is completed in accordance with the academic calendar and academic diary including the evaluation process. The interactive sessions are also organized for active participation of students in teaching and learning process.
Academically weaker students are identified on the basis of their performance in the written test and on the basis of the formal discussion with the students. The Department conducts the remedial classes for the slow learner and supports the advanced learners by providing them additional notes, or reference books. Add-on courses for enhancing the language proficiency of students like ‘Communication Skills in English is also introduced at Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma level by the department.A fixed number of units are taught in each semester through different teaching methods: lectures, power point presentations, use of digital classroom for web-based teaching, tutorials, interactive sessions, seminars etc.Apart from classroom interaction, projects, assignments, project-writing and seminars are given to the students. The Departments also organize guest lectures on current issues by eminent scholars. All faculty members make frequent use of modern teaching aids like, OHP and LCD, DVD player, Multimedia Player, Digital Classroom and Web based learning. Internet facilities are further available for teachers and students.
The College has two semesters in each academic year as per the directions of SGBAU Amravati. In the Department there is a process of an internal assessment which carries twenty marks and Theory papers carry eighty marks for Arts faculty, whereas for Commerce faculty from third semester to sixth semester the division is 40 + 10. At the end of each semester an examination is held under internal evaluation that is evaluated by the subject teachers. The theory paper examination is soon after the internal evaluation. The Academic Calendar observed every year by the departments to conduct the evaluation activities.The Department also adopts other practices like group discussion, laboratory work, Quiz Competitions, Debate Competition,Poetry-Reading Competition, and Elocution Competition for the evaluation of the students. Besides, students are also evaluated by organizing Class Tests and Seminars as well as through interactive sessions. The errors of students are discussed with them. They are also given home assignments and are checked regularly.
